thinking about a marathon?

It is crazy to think that it is time to start thinking about spring. I mean, aren’t we all still afraid summer will show back up?

But it is getting close to the time to start thinking about spring marathons. You’ll have several options to run a marathon in the spring with other LexRunLadies, and training will start before we know it! Most marathon training plans are 18 weeks
(http://www.halhigdon.com/training/51137/Marathon-Novice-1-Training-Program) and start with a long run of 6 miles. See! You could do it!

The Asheville Marathon (http://ashevillemarathon.com/)

The race is March 3, so backing up 18 weeks means that training will start on October 29th. I am super excited about this race. It will be entirely on the grounds of the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina. We already have quite a representation of the LRL heading that way. It will be the first marathon for Toa and Judy! Ute, Brooke, Nate, and myself will also be running there. (I feel like I’m forgetting somebody!)

The Flying Pig Marathon (http://www.flyingpigmarathon.com/)

The race is on May 5th, so training will start on New Year’s Eve. (How fun is that?!?) What a New Year’s Resolution! The Pig was my first marathon and I’ll do it as many years as I am physically able. Even though it was incredibly hard and HOT, I can’t wait to do it again. I’m not sure who all will be there yet, but I’m sure there’ll be quite the group since it is less than 2 hours away from Lexington. What will be really fun is that there are also options for a 5K and 10K on Saturday and a half and full on Sunday. We could take over Cincy!

So think about it. Toss the idea around. Let me know if you have any questions!
